Japan Workplace & Life Orientation Test(日本で働く・暮らすための基礎知識テスト)

This test measures whether foreign nationals can adapt to Japanese workplaces and culture upon their arrival in Japan.

〇Important Notes
1. "Japan" is Not Monolithic
Most of the correct answers assume the corporate culture of traditional, large Japanese companies (especially in manufacturing, trading, and finance). In foreign-affiliated companies, startups, IT firms, or companies with younger management teams, the options marked as "incorrect" are often more highly valued.

2. Values are Shifting Rapidly
Values such as "nominication" (drinking communication), seniority-based evaluations, and the assumption that long tenure is always best have fluctuated significantly over the past decade. Even Gen Z Japanese employees themselves often feel a sense of discomfort with these "correct" answers.

3. Risk of Reinforcing Stereotypes
This test is built on the assumption of a model of "how Japanese people think," which carries the risk of oversimplifying and flattening the individual diversity that exists among Japanese people.
